Mass of Christian Burial for Allen A. Ferland, age 56, of Zurich, formerly of Brighton, Colorado, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant.  Mr. Ferland passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays.

Allen was born December 20, 1952 in Hays the son of Archie and Elaine (Marcotte) Ferland.  He graduated from Palco High School and served in the United States National Guard.  Allen was the owner of Timely Discount Topos in Denver for over 30 years before retiring in 2002 and returned back to his roots in Zurich.

Allen loved to golf, hunt, bowl, fish, camp, water raft, skydive, and was an excellent cook.  Allen also enjoyed traveling to different countries including Africa.  He would spend several months at a time working and touring different countries until his job was completed and he would return home.

Survivors include his brother Dale & wife Pat Ferland of Zurich; sisters Shirley and husband Duane Chapman of Raymonville, Texas, Connie and husband Myron Newell of Plainville, Renee and husband Jim Shaw of Logan, Kansas, Shannon & husband Myron Balthazor of Ottawa, Kansas;  13 nieces, and nephews, and 13 great nieces, and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Archie & Elaine.

Burial will be in the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Zurich.  Visitation will be from 6 – 8 Thursday evening, and 9-8 Friday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel.  A Ladies Guild rosary will be 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, followed by a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening also at the chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
