Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Herman, age 74, of Plainville will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mrs. Herman passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home.
She was born February 10, 1935 in McCracken, Kansas the daughter of Daniel and Anna (McGaughey). Casey. Bernice graduated from Bazine High School and on June 20, 1953 she married Herb Herman in McCracken. To this union 3 girls were born. Bernice was a loving mother and homemaker. She also worked for the Shaw Hotel and Coffee Shop and later for Unrein Drug Store in Plainville. Bernice was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin V.F.W. Post # 8871 Auxiliary. She also loved golfing, dancing, keeping a meticulous yard, and delivering Communion to the homebound, something that was very important to her.
Survivors include her daughters Debbie & husband Rick Slater of Wichita, Lori and husband Dan Hill of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Judy and husband Harold Wiggins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother Edmund Casey of Hutchinson; sister Rita Fitzpatrick of Basye, Virginia, Neva Fehrenbach of Assaria, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb on January 25, 2008, her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. A Ladies Guild Rosary will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the funeral chapel followed by a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, also at the chapel. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Conception Seminary College at Conception, Missouri, Hays Medical Center Home Health & Hospice, or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
