Funeral services for Cynthia M. “Cindy” Brumitt Cox, age 46, of Plainville will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Daryl Sherraden officiating. Cindy passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was born May 2, 1963 in Plainville the daughter of Duane L. and Joyce “Jo” (Bennett) Brumitt. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1981 and received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Ft. Hays State University. Cindy served her country in the United States Navy for seven years and had recently been a nail tech at The Styling Studio in Plainville.
Cindy enjoyed writing poetry, singing karaoke, being in the sunshine, and especially spending time with her family.
On March 8, 2003, Cindy married Eric Cox in Plainville. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her daughter Shanaya Brumitt of the home; son Derek Brumitt of Plainville; mother Joyce “Jo” Brumitt of Plainville; brothers Dan and wife Charlie Cunningham of Plainville; sisters Nancy Leikam of Plainville, Brynda & husband Greg Hayes of Ellsworth; nieces Lacci Baetz, Haley Lemman, Rachel Hayes, Libby Becker; nephews David Herl, Jacob Herl, Josh Cunningham, Jon Hayes; and several great nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Duane “Wimp” Brumitt, aunt Charlene Brumitt, and niece Jennifer Herl-Benedick.
Burial will be in the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Rooks County Cancer Council and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
