Funeral services for Verlyn C. Maddy, of Salina, Kansas formerly of Stockton, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at our funeral home with Reverend Vince Williams officiating. Verlyn passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born November 18, 1944 the son of Verl and Wanda (Hebert) Maddy. Verlyn graduated from Stockton High School and began a 26 + year career in the United States Air force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1990. Following his retirement, he worked for the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina as a Material Distribution Center Supervisor for over 20 years. Verlyn enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
On June 2, 1965, he married Arlyne Welker in Stockton. She survives of the home in Salina. Other survivors include his daughters Michelle Wieden of Stockton, Kimberly and husband Bill King of Carl Junction, Missouri, Paula and husband Ron Carroll of Schertz, Texas; brothers Kerry Maddy of Altus, Oklahoma, Brett Maddy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Vane Maddy, and son in law Don Wieden.
Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post #8873. Visitation will be from 5-8 Sunday, 9-8 Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the organization of the donors choice and may be sent to in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
