Mass of Christian Burial for Frank J. Erbert, age 97, of Palco, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mr. Erbert passed away Thursday, April 01, 2010, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.
Frank was born July 22, 1912 in Ellis, Kansas the son of John and Anna (Gaschler) Erbert. He graduated from Ellis High School and had been a longtime Palco resident. In April 1934 he married Maxine Matteson in Ellis; she passed away June of 1967. Frank then married Marie (Bouchey) Morel on June 11, 1975, in Zurich; she survives of the home. Other survivors include his sons Richard and wife Mary Erbert of Houston, Texas, John and wife Carol Erbert of Danville, California, Dan and wife Carolyn Erbert of Nixa, Missouri, Terry and wife Tracey Erbert of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter Debbie and husband John Reifschneider of Lenexa, Kansas, sisters Caroline Niernberger of Hays, Doris Westhusin of Victoria, step son Ronnie Morel of Palco, step daughters Jacqueline Rohleder of Salina, Michelle Iannone of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, fourteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son David, and sisters Betty Harrison, Viola Erbert.
Frank was a Gauger for the CO-OP Pipeline Company for many years before retiring in 1974. Frank was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council # 1857, and the Palco Lions Club, drove a school bus for athletic events for many years, served on the Palco School Board, and was the past mayor of Zurich. Frank enjoyed golfing, gardening, and playing cards.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ellis. Visitation will be from 5-8 Saturday, 9-8 Sunday with a Ladies Guild Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon and a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening followed by a Knight of Columbus Rosary all at ourchapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
