Hope Eva (Darnell) Denton was born on May 10th 1916 in Spence, Colorado to Earl T. and Bernice (Irwin) Darnell. After a short time in Colorado they moved back to the family farm south of Bogue, Kansas. Hope spent her childhood there and graduated from Palco High School in 1933. She received her teaching certificate and taught in the Hill City and Plainville areas.

            She was united in marriage to Henry Nathan Denton on September 28th 1939 in Plainville, Kansas. They had four sons and one daughter. Henry preceded Hope in Death on December 25th 1971.

            During her life she lived in Wyoming, Arizona, and Colorado. She was living with her daughter and her family at the time of her death. Hope was a member of the Methodist Church and her entire life was dedicated to family. She was the ultimate sports enthusiast who played basketball, softball, and later in life golf. She loved fishing and playing cards with family.

            She was the number one fan of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Hope was survived by all of her children. Jim of Steamboat Springs, CO, Jay (Sharon) of Yuma, AZ, Rance (Nancy) of Denver, CO, Craig of Scottsdale, AZ and Jan(Kevin) of Grand Junction, CO, two sisters Maxine Campbell of Spring, TX and Helen Degarmo of Wasilla AK and one brother Gary Darnell of Plainville, KS as well as 3 grandsons, 5 granddaughters and 11 great grandchildren.

            Hope passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Hospice Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry.   Brothers, Bill and Ernest Darnell, Sister Marge Oliver and one grandchild.

            Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 21st at the Methodist Church in Bogue Kansas with Reverend Aaron Madondo officiating.  Burial will be in the Morland Township Cemetery near Bogue.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville and from noon – service time Wednesday at the church in Bogue.
